Caring, Leading, Teaching
Our Leaders
Our Lord continues to build his church through the ministry of men whom he calls and endues with special gifts for teaching, ruling, and serving
From the time of Abraham in the Old Testament, God's church has been led by wise elders, men gifted by God and called to govern his church. The word presbyterian comes from the New Testament Greek word presbyteros, meaning "elder." The Orthodox Presbyterian Church has followed this biblical pattern for church government. Local church elders, along with the pastor, form a "session" to care for the spiritual welfare of our members. Matters of common concern for churches in a given region, such as establishing new congregations and ordaining ministers, are regulated by a body of ministers and elders called a "presbytery." Annually, representatives of our sixteen presbyteries form a "general assembly" to give the whole Church direction and advice.

Jonathan Moersch
PASTOR
Jonathan Moersch was born and raised in Southern California in a Christian home. As he grew in his understanding of God’s Word, he came to embrace the doctrines articulated by the Protestant Reformation as being a more faithful expressions of the teaching of Scripture. He graduated from Westminster Seminary California in 2008 with a M.Div. degree and was ordained to gospel ministry in 2009.
In 2012 he was called by the Southern Californian Presbytery of the OPC to serve as a church planter for Trinity Presbyterian Church in Capistrano Beach. In 2016, Trinity Presbyterian became a new and separate congregation and Jonathan was called as its pastor. He and his wife, Kristin, have three boys.
