New to Trinity?

WHAT TO EXPECT

Getting to know us

Visiting a new church can be a bit intimidating as one is surrounded by unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar practices. Worship at Trinity is unlike many contemporary worship services that you may have been to in that our order of service is rooted in the historic practices of the Christian church. Put simply, we view worship as a dialogue between our covenant God and us as his people — God speaks to us through his Word & sacraments and we respond with prayer & praise. Thus, the entirety of our service is rightly considered part of worship, including the sermon, where we give praise to God with our hands, mouths, ears & hearts.

St. Augustine famously prayed to God, “You have made us for yourself, and our hearts are restless until they find their rest in you.” That is exactly what we do each Lord’s Day as we begin a new week by gathering together with the people of God and resting in the finished work of Christ. Hebrews 12:18-28 describes the immense benefit that we as members of a new and better covenant have by being able to ascend by faith the heavenly Mount Zion to worship God together with innumerable angels and the spirits of those made perfect through the mediation of Christ in the power of the Spirit. Thus we seek in worship to do all things decently and in order (1 Corinthians 14:40) and with reverence and awe (Hebrews 12:28).

Liturgy / Order of Worship

Our worship always begins with a call to worship where God summons us by his word to worship him and ends with a benediction as he places his name & blessing upon us as we go out into the world. Each Sunday we have a reading of the Law where we are reminded of God’s will for our lives as well as how far short we fall of the glory of God. This is followed by corporate & private confession of sin and an assurance of God’s forgiveness for us in Christ. We often confess our faith by using the Apostles’ or Nicene Creed, thus uniting ourselves with Christians throughout the ages. This is followed by a pastoral prayer, asking for the Lord’s blessing upon the gospel, his people, and the world. There is the preaching of God’s word, featuring an exposition of the text of Scripture showing how it points to the person and work of Christ. We observe the Lord’s Supper weekly as God more fully declares and seals to us all the promises of the gospel in a physical and tangible way.

About Us
Trinity began in the summer of 2012 as a mission work of the Presbytery of Southern California. In the fall of 2016 we became a new and separated congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, installing local elders, deacons, and our first pastor. We have continued as a vibrant expression of the body of Christ in south Orange County as we gather to worship our Triune God, edify the saints, and reach the lost with the good news of the gospel.

Childcare / Nursery

Children are welcomed and encouraged to remain with us in worship as much as possible since they are part of Christ’s church. For those little worshipers who are unable to sit through the whole service, nursery is provided. For more information about childcare, contact us.

“We as humans desire connectivity and a sense of belonging. At Trinity, your pastor and elders will know you by name. They will pray with you and for you on a regular basis.”

Jonathan Moersch, pastor

"My husband and I were looking for a church grounded in the Word of God, and we found that at Trinity. Week after week, the preaching is rooted in Scripture, not opinion, and the commitment to reformed theology is clear and uncompromising. Worship is reverent, keeping the focus on God rather than performance. What has impacted us just as deeply is the genuine love within this church, expressed through servant-hearted leadership. The elders have faithfully walked with us through difficult seasons, and the friendships we’ve formed have been a true blessing. Trinity has truly become our family!" - Renee M.

"For the past 12 years, our family has been deeply blessed to be part of Trinity OPC. The preaching is consistently Christ-centered and firmly rooted in Scripture. Week after week, Pastor Jon faithfully handles the biblical text with care, humility, and conviction, clearly proclaiming the gospel and applying it thoughtfully to everyday life. Beyond the pulpit, our pastor and elders have shepherded our family with genuine care. In both joyful seasons and difficult ones, they have been present with prayer, counsel, and encouragement. One of our greatest blessings has been raising our four young children here. Each Lord’s Day they hear the Word of God read and preached in a reverent, faithful setting. We have also formed deep and meaningful friendships that have strengthened and encouraged our family in countless ways. We are extremely thankful for Trinity and the steady, Christ-exalting ministry that has shaped our family for over a decade." - Scott S.

"My wife and I joined Trinity Presbyterian Church after moving away from our home PCA church of 25 years, so joining a new church was no small matter to us. The preaching of the Word at this church is truly excellent. Pastor Jonathan Moersch faithfully preaches the gospel of Christ every Sunday. and we are always blessed by his sermons and pastoral care. When tragedy struck our family several years ago, Pastor Jon, the elders, and the entire congregation came alongside us in prayer and acts of kindness that continue to this day, and still resonate in our hearts. Trinity is truly a church where you can feel the love when you walk in the door." - Dutch and Joanne R.

"At Trinity Presbyterian Church, you can expect something wonderfully clear: you will hear about Jesus Christ every single week. Rather than shaping the message and service around preferences or trends, Trinity intentionally keeps the Gospel at the center of worship. The prayers, readings, songs, and sermon all consistently point to Christ — His life, death, resurrection, and reign in heaven on our behalf.

The worship is grounded in Scripture, reverent, and thoughtful. The message — His Gospel — does not change with culture or headlines, which makes it deeply comforting. Week by week, you receive truth carefully explained in continuity with the historic Christian faith and the Reformed tradition.

If you are looking for a church where Christ is truly central every Sunday, Trinity Presbyterian Church is a place to visit. Praise God for a church committed to Christ and Him crucified." - Derek V.

"Before coming to Trinity, my wife and I were longtime members of a church in north Orange County. When our pastor retired and our twin boys were born shortly after, we decided to make the tough decision to find a church closer to our home in south Orange County. For months, we attended various churches in the area and came across Trinity. We felt so welcomed from the moment we walked through the doors. Trinity has been such a blessing to our family and we are so thankful to have found a church to worship where we can have deep fellowship and hear the gospel preached every Sunday." - Jeremy S.

"My family and I were attending a church in Irvine when we made the difficult decision to leave and find a church closer to home near San Clemente. We were immediately struck by the welcoming atmosphere when we first visited Trinity. Pastor Jon was gracious enough to meet me for coffee after just one visit. We found the reformed liturgy very God honoring and refreshing having experienced more “modern” worship for many years. The traditional service also includes children- whole families worshipping together on the Lord’s Day is such a blessing! We’ve witnessed several baptisms of both adults and children and were reminded each time to remember that we too are baptized and what that means for each of us. We’re so thankful for this beautiful little church body and, Lord willing, we’ll be here for many years." - Ryan P.

"Of all the churches we have attended, Trinity OPC stands out for its truly genuine sense of community. Many young families with multiple children attend, fostering long-lasting friendships for the next generation of believers—including our own grandchildren. While it is not a large congregation, every generation is represented. The preaching is faithful and thorough, going through a book of the Bible verse by verse, without skipping passages. Sermons are not topical, but rooted deeply in Scripture. We worship God with weekly communion, prayer, and hymns from the Psalter, accompanied by a piano—without any additional fanfare. Alongside our wonderful pastor, we are blessed with an exceptional team of elders and deacons who serve the congregation faithfully" - Helen J.

"Walking into a new church, reaching out to strangers, trying to make connections, is not something that I find particularly easy to do. Having been recently widowed and moved from a very comfortable, close-knit community in Connecticut, I found myself a Floridian during the winter months and a traveler during the spring and summer months. Fortunately, San Clemente became a springtime lodging place. Last year I walked through the door at Trinity and immediately knew that I was not a stranger; warm and welcoming hospitality embraced me, and I felt a genuine connection with the congregation. There is a love for the truth, only found in the Scriptures, and a love for one another that permeates the church. I am very grateful that the Lord led me to Trinity." - Carol F.

"My family has attended Trinity for three years and we are very thankful to be here. Prior, we attended a solid, sizable church in the area. But after many years, we were drawn by God's grace to a smaller church (Trinity), that is confessional / historical and where family worship and Sunday as the one special day of the week is promoted.

Married for 23 years now with two teenage kids and one young adult, our family has been blessed to become members at Trinity. We are focused more now on worshipping our Lord and Savior, Jesus, verses what we get out of church. We like the traditional form of worship and feel rooted in a church that is timeless rather than modern. Trinity is full of ordinary folks, with a welcoming spirit who just want to worship God the way He describes in the Bible. Come and see what the Lord has done at Trinity in Capo Beach." - Chris C.
